The Washington High School drama department will perform in its fall play called "Everybody's Crazy," a comedy that has several punch lines throughout it.
The play takes place in the summer of 1930 in a hotel co-owned by three young gentlemen: Herbert Stanley, who is played by Michael Dillon; Elmer Sneed who is played by Kyle Schindler; and William Bates who is played by Cody Chalupa.
Stanley starts the scene in the lobby of his hotel, fretting about how they are going to make their mortgage payment to the person they bought the hotel from. In the midst of his worry Gladiola, the maid, who is paid by Grace Miller; Jasper, the bellboy, played by Logan Hanson; and the cook, Libby Ann, played by Addie Pacha, tell Stanley about the hotel being haunted by the original owner who was murdered. They also wonder about the $30,000 treasure the former owner left behind.
Stanley denies the haunting claim and puts an advertisement in the paper announcing the new ownership of the hotel and new name. He also announces a famous dancer, Eve St. Clare, will be staying there.
Guests start to show, but St. Clare sends a telegram to her cousin William Bates that she can't make it. Guests begin to arrive demanding to meet the famous dancer, so Sneed and Stanley get their partner, Bates, to dress up as his cousin.
Sneed also comes up with an idea about being the hotel's "house doctor" of psychiatry. He dresses up as an older gentlemen and listens to the guests' ailments while falling in love with one of them.
Throughout the play there are several reports and sightings of the "ghost." Several guests also hunt for the hidden treasure.
Will the treasure ever be found? Is the "ghost" really a "ghost"? All the questions will be answered in the play.
"Everybody's Crazy" performances will be held at the Washington Community Theater Friday and Saturday evening at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday at 2 p.m.
Other members of the cast include: Ketura Katt played by Libby Scnicker, Julie Mather played by Gracie Cleverley, Mrs. Spooner played by Emma Stout, Godfrey Van Gordon played by Zoe Wagner, Celia Van Gordon played by Andrea Pingol, Adam Pottle played by Riordan Lujano and the Messenger played by Conner Jarrard.
