Jefferson County Conservation is sponsoring two sessions of ?Fall Wild Edibles and Mushrooms? Saturday at Jefferson County Park.
Mike Krebill returns for a fall edibles hike, and he?ll be joined by members of the Prairie State Mushroom Club to help identify mushrooms for participants. Participants can expect to learn about a variety of fall edibles and mushrooms. They will try their hand at shelling out acorns, hickory nuts and walnuts; prepare and taste-test some wild edible snacks; and receive handouts and have a chance to ask questions. Reference material will be available for purchase.
Session one is from 9 a.m. to noon, and session two is from 12:45-3:45 p.m. Each session is limited to 25 participants. Participants can sign up for only one session. Youth must be accompanied by an adult.
The fee is $10 per person or $20 per family. Pre-registration is required. To pre-register, contact Jefferson County Naturalist Therese Cummiskey at therese@jeffersoncountyconservation.com.
