William Edward Woodsmall, 63, of Salem, died on Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2017, at his home, in Salem.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017, at 2:30 p.m., at the Murphy Funeral Home, in Mt. Pleasant. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until the service time on Saturday. Full military honors will be conducted by the Henry County Honor Guard.

William Edward Woodsmall, 63, of Salem, died on Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2017, at his home, in Salem.

Woodsmall was born on Dec. 15, 1953, in Burlington, the son of Robert Eugene and Anna Marie Bollinger Woodsmall. He attended Mediapolis High School and joined the United States Navy.
He made the Navy a full-time career and was honorably discharged in 1978. He served in Vietnam and the Philippines.
Woodsmall is survived by his mother, Anna Marie, of Salem; his children, Kelley (Frank) Green, and Crystal (Jared) Scales, all of Houston, Texas; five grandchildren; one sister, Roberta (John) Stevens, of Salem; and two brothers, Roger (Marla) Woodsmall, of Morning Sun, and Roy Woodsmall, of Columbus Junction.
He was preceded in death by his father; and two brothers, Ernie and David.
