Iowa State University Extension and Outreach of Lee County will host a Windbreak 101: Planning and Restoration Course on Wednesday, April 10 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Class will be held at the Lee County Extension Office, 414 North Main Street, Donnellson. In this session Lisa Louck, DNR Forester, will discuss planning for a new windbreak, caring for an existing windbreak, getting the most out of this multifaceted conservation planting, the different windbreak species and disease/insect issues.
'A well planned and maintained windbreak can provide many benefits such as reducing wind speed, creating a noise/dust buffer, controlling snowdrifts, providing wildlife habitat and enhancing the value of your farmstead,” states Whitney Weisinger, ISU Extension and Outreach Program Coordinator.
This course is free and open to the public. Preregistration is required. Please contact Whitney Weisinger at the Lee County Extension Office at 319-835-5116 or weisinge@iastate.edu. The registration deadline is Monday, April 8.
