BONAPARTE ? Bonaparte Main Street is planning a ?Wine about Winter,? with wine tasting, dinner and a movie Jan. 28 at the Opera House in Bonaparte.
The buffet will feature a pasta bar with a garden salad, pasta, sauces, toppings and grilled garlic bread.
Serving will be from 5-6:30 p.m., with the movie beginning at 7 p.m.
Dinner is priced at $10 per person, $5 for children ages 4-10 and free for children younger than 4.
Reservations are preferred, but not required. The movie is free, and anyone can attend whether or not they?ve had dinner. Those attending the movie are asked to bring lawn chairs.
The free movie will be Billy Wilder?s 1959 comedy, ?Some Like it Hot,? starring Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon. Set in Chicago during the 1929 pre-depression and Prohibition era, ?Some Like It Hot? is riddled with satire and gangster spoofs creating a romantic and screwball comedy. Nominated for six Academy Awards, including Best Actor (Jack Lemmon), Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay, ?Some Like it Hot? won the Oscar for Best B/W Costume Design. In the year 2000, ?Some Like it Hot? was voted as the funniest movie of all time by the American Film Institute.
Whispering Pines Winery of Keosauqua will be set up for tasting and for the purchase of wine throughout the evening?s activities.
