Winter day camp offered at Jefferson County Fairgrounds

Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Jefferson County is offering a Holidays Around the World day camp during area school districts? winter break.

Holidays Around the World is open to all kindergartners through third-graders 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 28 at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds.

Cost is $10 per child. Registration is open until Dec. 20. Call Jefferson County Extension at 472-4166 to register a child.

?Our world is becoming more and more globalized which guarantees that every person will interact with diverse groups of people on a more regular basis,? said Rachel Wonderlich, county youth coordinator. ?It is important to learn about other cultures and gain an appreciation for diversity. Cultural competence can begin at a very early age. This day camp will teach about other cultures through learning about Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and more. The day will feature many hands-on activities and crafts.?
