WMS students participate in honor band
Eighteen Washington Middle School band students attended the Mt. Pleasant Honor Band on Saturday, April 9.
Students arrived at 8:15 a.m. and rehearsed with students from 15 other area schools in a sixth-grade and a seventh-and eighth-grade honor band. The sixth-grade director was Jim DePriest, of Mt. Pleasant. The seventh-and eighth-grade director was Kim Benson, of Oskaloosa.

Eighteen Washington Middle School band students attended the Mt. Pleasant Honor Band on Saturday, April 9.
Students arrived at 8:15 a.m. and rehearsed with students from 15 other area schools in a sixth-grade and a seventh-and eighth-grade honor band. The sixth-grade director was Jim DePriest, of Mt. Pleasant. The seventh-and eighth-grade director was Kim Benson, of Oskaloosa.
After the morning rehearsals and breaks, the students and directors were treated to a clinic and performance by the Dallas Brass (a worldwide professionally touring brass group). The students rehearsed with the Dallas Brass in the afternoon and then performed a 4 p.m. concert, which featured the Dallas Brass on one number with each group.
WMS students attending the honor band were: John Flannery, Emma Herr, Quentin Howard, Lucas Kitchen, Olivia Limkemann, Alli Lucas, Chloe McGuire, Alexis Ide, Evan Miller, Emily Miranda, Desiree Pingol, Launa Rathmell, Kenna Rathmell, Katie Rich, Mateo Salazar, Erika Hernandez, Anna Venenga and Audrey Wubbena.
