Farm women can have a key role in successful farm transitions. Creating a transition plan to ensure that a farm continues as a productive, agricultural business can be challenging.
Managing for Today and Tomorrow, a five session Annie?s Project course offered by Iowa State University Extension and Outreach of Henry County, takes some of the challenge out of the process by teaching farm women about succession, business, estate and retirement planning.
Sessions are taught by Extension specialists and local professionals, and include time to network with other participants. In addition to brief presentations, there are discussions based on participant questions and follow-up activities for family members to complete at home. The course is being offered at the Henry County Extension Office from 6 to 9 p.m., on March 16, 23, and 30, and on April 5 and 13. A meal will be provided prior to each class starting at 5:30 p.m.
"Farm women in Henry County will greatly benefit from this program," said Darbee Wellman, Agriculturalist for ISU Extension and Outreach of Henry and Lee counties, ?This course empowers women to gain knowledge and become an active voice in both farm and life decisions."
Online registration is required by March 9.
