Almost 30 4-H?ers, parents, and volunteers gathered Sunday, Sept. 17, for the new beef selection workshop at the Pat Schneider Farm in Riverside. This workshop was one in a series of 4-H beef workshops planned by the 4-H Youth Committee and beef volunteers.
4-H volunteer and alum Brent Schneider shared tips on what 4-H?ers should be looking for when selecting their beef projects this fall based on what their goals are for the year. He went over tips on halter-training calves and then participants were able to evaluate club calves in his lot.
?With so many activities for youth available, it?s rewarding to see both youth and parents at these meetings making their 4-H projects a priority and making that commitment to want to learn more and get better,? said Amy Green, 4-H/Youth Coordinator.
Please contact the Washington County Extension Office with any questions regarding the 4-H beef project area or about getting involved with 4-H as a member or volunteer.
