YOUNG BIRDERS CLUB

The Young Birders Club will be looking for birds along the Des Moines River from 12:30-3 p.m. Sunday.

The group will carpool from Jefferson County Park and head down along the Des Moines River to look for eagles, swans, geese and whatever other birds happen their way.

Those interested in the trip should email Jefferson County naturalist Therese Cummiskey at therese@jeffersoncountyconservation.com.

The fee is $3. Youth ages 8-11 must be accompanied by an adult.

The Young Birders Club is for youth ages 8-18 who are interested in learning about birds.

CIRCLE 8 SQUARE DANCE CLUB

The Circle 8 Square Dance Club has announced its 2014 square dance schedule.

The dances kick off today from 7:30-10 p.m., with caller Tom Manning, at the KC Hall in Houghton.

All the dances are set from 7:30-10 p.m. at the KC Hall in Houghton unless otherwise noted.

Dances will be March 26, with Barry Peck; April 9, with Jim Williams; April 23, with Dave Roush; May 7, with Robin Ragen; May 21, with Jerry Story; June 11 with Sandy Skinner; and June 25, with Jim Logan.

A Circle 8 Special, with Curt Braffet, is planned from 2-4 p.m. July 20.

Dances will continue July 30, with Tom Manning; Aug. 13, with Barry Peck; Aug. 27, with Tom Roper; Sept. 10, with Doug McCart; Oct. 8 with Sprosty Brothers; Oct. 22, with Jim Williams; and Nov. 12, with Curt Braffet.

A Christmas dance, with a potluck served at 6:30 p.m., is set for Dec. 10. Tom Manning will be the caller.
