Mar. 3, 2020 10:55 am
The Washington Concert Association will host violinist Kerson Leong on Thursday March 5 at 7:30 PM in the United Methodist Church in Washington (206 W. 2nd Street). Note, Timothy Chooi was to do the concert, but had to cancel.
Thanks to a mini grant from the Washington Country Riverboat Foundation, Kerson will also be able to do an afternoon concert for students at the Washington High School.
'Through outreach, Kerson is cementing his significant role in influencing young people and potential music lovers with his art,” stated a news release from the concert association.
Leong began his rise in the music world in 2010, having won major junior competitions in his youth. Now, at age 23 he has played in some of the most prestigious concert venues around the world from Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium and the Auditorium du Louvre to Wigmore Hall and the National Center for the Performing Arts in Beijing. He is in regular demand as a soloist, having performed with such ensembles as the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Oslo Philharmonic, the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, and many others worldwide. Recent debuts include the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, Sibelius Academy Chamber Orchestra, Orchestre Metropolitan de Montreal and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
Washington Concert Association members can use their season ticket or purchase a single ticket at the door. Students K-12 are free. Contact 319-461-6402 for questions.
