Every week, the Mt. Pleasant News will feature a Henry County resident in a profile snapshot. The questions will appear in bold. This week's 'Friend on the Front Page” is Jordyn Dingman, whom you may know from The REC Center.
What is your favorite part of living here? I just really like the small-town atmosphere and you seem to know everyone. Everybody's willing to help out everybody else.
What is your favorite local hangout? The REC Center. We've been open 25 years now, and I came here when I was a kid for summer camps. Now I work here.
What do you like to do in your free time? Usually I teach group exercise. I have two kids so I hang out with my family, we like to be outdoors in the summer.
What is your favorite winter activity? We like to go to the movies. Usually just kids' animation movies. My husband likes horror movies, but those aren't allowed for the kids.
What is one thing you've not tried that you would like to? Rock climbing. I know a couple colleges up North require students to do it, but I never got to do it.
Is there something Mt. Pleasant doesn't have that you'd like to see? A brewery. My husband and I are always saying that a pub or a brewery of some sort would be awesome.
What's one dish or drink that reminds you of Mt. Pleasant? Pizza, because we have so many pizza places here. Really any pizza, usually if we go local we go to Jerry's Restaurant or Casey's General Store if it's a chain.
What's something interesting about you? I own chickens, I live out of town but I don't live on a farm. I love chickens. My neighbor forced me to have them Jean Deason Bache. He had chickens and we moved next door and I said I wanted them and one day I came outside and we had two chickens. He's a cop in town, so he'd confiscated two chickens and we ended up having chickens ever since then.
