The United Church of Crawfordsville had the pleasure of hosting a Youth Group from the Celebration Lutheran Church in Sartell, MN overnight on Saturday, July 22 on their return from a Mission trip to Savannah, GA. They then attended church services before returning to their homes. There were 24 in all, 20 students and four adults. Two of the youth shared some of their experiences with the congregation.
They left MN on a mission trip July 14 and went to Savannah, Georgia, where they worked from July 17 until July 20. They partnered with Youth Works in GA. While there they painted houses, tended hydroponic gardens, which is a method of growing plants without soil as well as weeding community gardens.Their work week consisted of working Monday through Thursday. They were divided into two groups of ten youth and two adult leaders and some worked with Wesley Community Center organizing the center, where they packaged food and did some landscaping. All this was done in 90+ degree weather.
They spent time at Tybee Island and the beach and visited many historic sights and enjoyed sightseeing in the area. On the way to Georgia they visited the St. Louis Arch and Nashville.
It was a real joy to have this group join us!
