A Mt. Pleasant paraeductor has been fired for chronic absence and alleged misconduct.

At last Thursday’s meeting on Dec. 11, the Henry County Board of Supervisors voted 2-1 to seek an outside legal opinion regarding reimbursing Deputy Carlos Lopez.

This Friday, Locomotive #9 will take children of the Mt. Pleasant Community School District to the North Pole and back, in a gesture of goodwill to the community that has so embraced the Midwest Central Railroad.

Lilly Heckethorn, a Junior at Winfield-Mt. Union High School and volunteer at the Swedish-American Museum and Historical Society, will be crowned this year’s Saint Lucia on Sunday, Dec. 14.

The Midwest Central’s first train to the North Pole left the station on Saturday, Dec. 6. By all accounts, the event was truly magical. But Santa’s magic alone cannot run a railroad.

Hobart Dickey, or Hobe to his friends, lives and breathes classic cars. He owns two 1954 Chevrolets, a 1948 Chevrolet, and a prewar Buick. But his favorites are his Oldsmobiles.
