Crooked Creek FFA
Feb. 22, 2022 11:10 am
The Crooked Creek FFA Chapter at Winfield-Mt. Union was established 11 years ago.
The chapter began with 10 members, and over the last 11 years, have participated in a variety of FFA events and activities including sub-district and district soil judging, poultry judging, team ag sales, individual ag sales, livestock judging, job interview, ag mechanics - tractor restoration at the Iowa State Fair, photography at Iowa State Fair, and members showing various livestock species at both Henry County and Iowa State Fair.
Over the last several years, the Crooked Creek FFA Chapter has also sponsored the community garden across from the front of the Winfield-Mt. Union School which all community members are welcome to harvest from.
Currently, any 7-12th grade student taking an agriculture course is listed on the FFA Roster and is eligible to participate in FFA events.
This academic year, a group of students traveled to and competed at sub-district soils in Louisa County.
The Crooked Creek FFA Chapter was in attendance at Sub-Districts held at Louisa-Muscatine schools on Feb. 21.
There are also plans to have delegates in attendance at District Convention on March 12 at Pekin and Iowa FFA State Leadership Conference in Ames on April 11-12.
A number of students also have plans to show livestock at both county and state fairs over the summer.
The chapter is also looking into a few options for tours in the agriculture industry within our area for the spring.
