The date and time have been set for the auction of the former Mt. Pleasant City Hall. The building will be auctioned at 5 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 27, to the highest bidder. The city tried to no avail to sell the building, preferably to a non-profit group. Consequently, the city council voted to auction the structure, built in 1936.

A construction project that has taken over six months to complete is nearly finished. The reconstruction of Mapleleaf Avenue from Lincoln to Iris streets has less than one-half block of concrete remaining to be poured. Crews tore out the existing concrete from Cherry to Iris streets and replaced it with new concrete. The concrete west of Cherry to Lincoln streets was patched.
