A farmer took advantage of the warm weather this past weekend and worked the ground in a field northeast of Swedesburg in preparation for spring planting. A small portion of the 2016 crop was planted last weekend. However, wet weather this week has put a halt on additional planting.

The Mt. Pleasant Fire Department was called to the scene of Wiley?s Interior Furnishing and Design, located at 2235 E. Washington St., Mt Pleasant, for a gas leak. The call came around 8:50 a.m. According to a representative from Alliant Energy, the gas valve was turned off while crews made repairs. Only one customer was affected and the line was turned back on shortly after 11 a.m.

The Henry County Treasurer?s Office will be closed next Wednesday.Henry County Treasurer Ana Lair said the office will be close at noon on Wednesday, May 4, to allow staff to attend training.The office will reopen Thursday, May 5.
