A motorcycle-deer accident Aug. 10, caused $5,000 in damages to the motorcycle.According to the Mt. Pleasant Police Department, David Mertens was operating a 2013 Honda on west Courtland Road when he encountered a deer on the roadway. Mertens swerved to his right to avoid the deer and entered the north ditch where he lost control of his motorcycle.Mertens was not injured in the accident.
