A farmer west of Mt. Pleasant displays a sense of humor. Like a caterpillar inching its way across a field of green corn, this bundled package of round bales seems quite happy with its fate. The display was spotted in a field west of Mt. Pleasant along U.S. Highway 34.

What was supposed to be a spring/summer project of 2014 turned into a 15-month ordeal. However, North Iris Street is finally open to through traffic. A wet summer of 2014 constantly impeded work. In fact, the last concrete in 2014 was poured in December. Crews are still finishing some work along the sides of the road, but traffic now can move free and easily on the street.
