Henry County?s Conservation Department hosted its annual Night Hike Monday at the Oakland Mills Nature Center. This year?s theme was TVLand. Those attending are pictured examining Prairie and Indian grass. Iowa Wesleyan students assisted Henry County Naturalist Cari Nicely with stations along the hike.

As the investigation continues into Saturday night?s car burglary in Olds, additional electronic devices have been located. At 7:04 a.m., on Sept. 29, the Henry County Sheriff?s Office was notified of a single vehicle accident on the eastbound Highway 34 on-ramp at New London Road.While backing on the shoulder of the on-ramp, a 2011 Toyota Sienna owned and operated by Travis Little of New London backed into a lamppost. There were no reported injuries from the accident. Damage to the vehicle and lamppost is estimated to be $2,500 each.

At approximately 8:50 a.m., the Henry County Sheriff?s Office received a report of a theft from a motor vehicle that occurred during the overnight hours in the 100 block of West 3rd Street in Olds. On Sept. 21, the Henry County Sheriff?s Office along with New London Police Department responded to a motor vehicle accident on Henry-Des Moines Avenue, south of Highway 34. An investigation of the accident determined the driver of the vehicle swerved to miss a deer that had crossed the roadway. Driver of the vehicle, Susan McConnell, 50, of Danville, was uninjured.

On Sept. 26, Henry County Sheriff?s Deputies along with Iowa State Troopers were called to the 1100 grid of Dakota Avenue, outside of Wayland, for an assault that occurred.Upon investigation, George Barkow Jr., 27, of Wayland, was arrested for assault, simple misdemeanor.A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
