New London High School Homecoming King and Queen Karl Totemeier and Elizabeth Lamont were the royalty in the community?s 175th birthday party parade Saturday.

Mt. Pleasant Superintendent of Schools Dr. John Roederer high-fives Lincoln Elementary School students following the announcement that the school had been named a Blue Ribbon school.

Salem was not the only county community to have Burma Shave signs ? at least for a weekend. This string of Burma Shave signs, along with the Burma Shave logo on the last sign, were found on the grounds during the Midwest Old Threshers Reunion.

Mt. Pleasant City Council?s Airport Advisory Committee will select a chairperson during its regular meeting Tuesday, Sept. 11, at 5:30 p.m. in the meeting room at the Airport Administration Building.Other tentative agenda items include the manager?s report and discussion of the runway and terminal rehabilitation and renovation projects.

Mt. Pleasant City Council?s Ordinance Committee will discuss during its Sept. 10 meeting taking certain properties to court.The committee meets Monday at 8:30 a.m. in the City Administrator?s office at City Hall.Other tentative agenda items include discussion of a nuisance abatement ordinance, discussion on ongoing nuisances and an update from the deer hunt committee.
