This stone marker and signs on the corner of Courtland Street and Hickory Avenue marks the location of Camp Harlan, which was used as a training camp by the 4th Iowa Cavalry and the 25th Iowa Infantry during the Civil War. The Henry County Historic Preservation Commission is attempting to have the site listed on the national historical registry.

The Henry County Conservation Department will open the South Shore and Water Works campgrounds today, April 13.There is a campground host in place on the South Shore and at Water Works to register campers in all camping areas.Camping fees remain the same as last year. The day station is located in the South Shore area with a fee for non-registered campers.Firewood can be purchased from either campground host.
On April 4, Chapter Original A of P.E.O. used Skype to visit with Catie Moore Scott in Kyrgyzstan.Scott is the daughter of Sandy Moore and currently serving in the Peace Corps with her husband, Bob Scott.
