The Henry County Sheriff?s Office responded to a report of a car/deer accident on U.S. 34 at 8:47 p.m. on May 25.Suann Marie Wells, 43, of Burlington, was driving her 2007 Pontiac Solstice east on U.S. 34 when a deer ran into the road; she was unable to avoid the deer or struck it in the curbside lane.No injuries were reported, but damages to the Wells vehicle were estimated at $3,000.

The city of Rome reported a theft to the Henry County Sheriff?s Office on May 25.Water service had been turned off, and it was reported that a citizen in the 100 block of East Market Street had turned the water back on without proper permission, and was continuing to use the service.The incident remains under investigation.
