The Trojans boys? soccer team had a tough draw on Thursday, going up against No. 9 Pella to open up their season. The Dutch got the better of Fairfield, winning the match 5-2.
Brayden Miller and Chaysten Titus scored the goals for the Trojans in the second half, but it wasn?t enough as the Dutch built up too much of a first-half lead. Fairfield scored the goals on Pella reserve goalkeeper Jarod Robertson.
The Pella defense frustrated senior Solomon Constant, holding the top-scorer in Iowa to only one assist in the match.
Junior goalkeeper Robert Cupp allowed the five goals, playing all 80 minutes in the net for Fairfield.
The most frustrating moment of the night for Fairfield came in the first half, as Pella?s Will Warner connected on a free kick from beyond the center-line on his own side of the pitch.
The Trojans will recollect and re-focus themselves to prepare for a conference match at Mt. Pleasant on Monday.
