Fairfield?s spring brush pickup will begin at 7 a.m. May 7.
All brush should be put in a neat pile along the curb. Nothing bigger than 24 inches in diameter and 13 feet in length is accepted.
The citywide brush pickup does not include leaves and yard waste, which will continue to be picked up in city yard waste bags with regular recycling collection.
Brush must be placed by the curb and away from poles, fences and water shut-offs before May 2, but after April 30, to ensure pick up. City crews will not make a second trip.
Piles must not interfere with traffic.
City crews no longer conduct the annual bulk item trash pickup. Rising costs and funding deficits have made this service a financial burden for the city.
Residents will need to contract directly with waste haulers for bulk trash removal or donate reusable items to the numerous local reuse businesses.
City code prohibits trash in yards and city right-of-way, and violators may be fined if problem items are not removed.
