Fairfield City Administrator Jeff Clawson cited a number of cost saving measures he has implemented as justification for his salary during his six-month performance review Wednesday afternoon.
Following a glowing review from the Fairfield City Council Personnel Committee, which reported feedback from the full council and department heads, Clawson outlined $39,235 he has saved the city annually, as well as $55,100 in one-time savings.
?I think I have an obligation in black and white to show you some things where I have saved some money,? said Clawson, whose initial $87,500 employment contract with the city was $8,686 more than former city administrator John Brown?s salary at the time of his resignation in late 2009.
Given Clawson?s satisfactory review, the personnel committee will recommend increasing his salary to $95,000 as per his employment contract.
Clawson listed $8,500 in annual savings due to negotiations with Waste Management for free garbage collection from three city facilities, as well as free recycling services for all city departments.
