Community 1st Credit Union?s Fairfield Branch sponsored the Coaches vs. Cancer Jan. 25 by holding a 50/50 raffle at the Fairfield High School girls and boys basketball game. Their efforts helped raise $4,089 for the American Cancer Society. This is the third year the branch has participated as a major sponsor of the fundraiser. Coaches vs. Cancer is a national program that pulls together the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches and empowers coaches, their teams and local communities to make a difference in the fight against cancer. ?Every one of us know or knows someone who has been touched by cancer,? branch manager Renee Rebling said. ?Community 1st?s philosophy is putting the community first.This is one way we give back. It makes us feel good.? Community 1st staff participating in the event included Rebling, Gayle Gilpin, Megan Phillips, Kathy Aicher, Kathy Winkleman, Ashley Fields, Kathy Thornton and Wendy Carminhato.
