The presidential motorcade traveled down Highway 34 from Mount Pleasant to Ottumwa Tuesday afternoon causing road closures and delays.

The presidential motorcade traveled down Highway 34 from Mount Pleasant to Ottumwa Tuesday afternoon causing road closures and delays.
The procession went by Fairfield on the bypass about 3:35 p.m.
Fairfield Police Chief Julie Harvey said although there were 34 people from the police department, Jefferson County Sheriff?s Office, the Jefferson County Police Reserves and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources along the highway directing traffic, the Iowa State Patrol was the primary local escort.
The Secret Service, Harvey added, made all decisions on when and where to close roads.
