Van Buren County Hospital awarded $15,000 grant

KEOSAUQUA ? Van Buren County Hospital announced that it is has been awarded a grant in the amount of $15,000 from Dover Corporation, Hillphoenix Inc, and the local employees.

Van Buren County Hospital?s $2.2 million building was designed to house the hospital?s child care center, preschool, Job Opportunities Center, Parents as Teachers program, Occupational Health Services, Healthy Villages, Head Start, the WIC clinic, an optometrist?s office and a conference room.

This contribution was supported in part through a new matching grant initiative by the philanthropic arm of Hillphoenix?s parent company, Dover Corporation. The Dover Foundation helps to support not-for-profit organizations, causes and/or projects that benefit the local communities in which its Operating Companies are located.

?We are pleased to have selected Van Buren County Hospital?s Community Service Center as the inaugural organization to benefit from this program in our community,? said Nate Weaton, General Manager. ?Many of our employees use the services provided by the center; this will be a significant benefit to the local community.?

Lisa Schnedler, Hospital Administrator, remarked, ?Bringing these essential services under one roof has been a vision of the hospital board for a number of years. Through the support of funders, like Dover, Hillphoenix and their employees, financing of the center has become a reality.?

The Center opened in August 2012.
