10 more Iowa Wesleyan students test positive for coronavirus

MT. PLEASANT - Following its second week of in-person classes, Iowa Wesleyan University saw an additional 10 students test positive for the coronavirus as of 3 p.m. on Friday. No additional staff or faculty tested positive.
The university conducted 68 tests in the week of Aug. 30 for a 14.7 percent positivity rate for tests conducted within the week, according to the university's COVID-19 dashboard.
Since the university reopened its campus in early August, 42 students have tested positive as well as four faculty and staff members. The university has conducted 334 tests total since its reopening.
The university is currently reporting a 13.7 percent positivity rate overall, a drop from 14 percent the previous week. The university's positivity rate aligns with Henry County's 14-day rolling average, which was 13.4 percent as of Friday afternoon.
According to the university's dashboard, seven of the 55 available isolation spaces on campus are being used. The previous week, the university reported 24 beds were in use.
