WASHINGTON — A row of intersections frequented by commuters from Washington will likely reopen soon, according to City Maintenance and Construction Superintendent JJ Bell.
The intersections along East Main Street were closed from 12th Avenue to 14th Avenue as contractors hooked up a new water main line and redid several intake locations.
“We’re going from a four-inch cast, where we’ve had a lot of leaks over there and water main breaks,” Bell said. “They’re putting 8-inch PVC back in, and then hooking up all the services once they get the water tested.”
Bell said construction crews would remain on-site for up to a month as they poured concrete back over the newly installed infrastructure, but said the intersections were expected to reopen — either partially or entirely — within the week.
