2 charged with possession of marijuana Friday

Marijuana was found in a vehicle after a traffic stop was conducted near the intersection of North Lincoln Street and East Taft Street in Mt. Pleasant on Friday, Feb. 22, at approximately 6:54 p.m.
Brittnie Preuitt, of Illinois, was driving a Nissan Altima in Mt. Pleasant on Friday when she was stoped by a deputy with the Henry County Sheriff's Office. After an investigation, she and a passenger, Tyra Washington, of Missouri, were charged with possession of controlled substance, marijuana 1st offense, a serious misdemeanor.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
