WASHINGTON - Two additional individuals at Stewart Elementary School have tested positive for COVID-19.
On Wednesday afternoon, Superintendent Willie Stone sent a letter to district families informing them that two people at Stewart Elementary School had tested positive for COVID-19.
This announcement closely follows two reported positive cases at Stewart the day before.
Stone did not identify the people, nor did he specify whether that person was a student or staff member.
In a spreadsheet on the district's website, was one student and three staff members absent due to symptoms or a positive COVID-19 test on Monday.
'We want to be as transparent as possible, but we also want to protect the individual's health information,” Stone said.
In his letter, Stone said that the district is working closely with local public health officials to assist with contact tracing.
'Individuals who have been identified as having ‘close contact' (as defined by local and state public health officials) with the individual who tested positive have already received a separate email communication or phone call regarding necessary procedures and next steps,” Stone wrote in his letter.
There have been three previously reported positive cases at Lincoln Elementary.
Stone said upon the advice of local public health offices, they ask parents and guardians to continue to monitor their student's health for symptoms associated with COVID-19.
Daily absentee data can be found on the districts website under COVID-19 Data.
