2 women arrested for out of state warrant, illegal substance charge

Following a stop and investigation from the Henry County Sheriff's Officer, two women were arrested on account of illegal possession and an out-of-state felony.

Driver Jennifer Goranson, of Cedar Rapids, was stopped on Thursday, March 14, at the intersection of N. Grand Ave. and E. Winfield Ave. at approximately at 8:30 p.m. because her vehicle, a gray 2006 Honda Accord, had an inoperable headlight. Mekiah Kent, of Winfield, was with her in the car.

Goranson was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Kent was arrested on a felony out-of-state warrant through Illinois.

The Henry County Sheriff's office was assisted by the Mt. Pleasant Police Department.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
