OTTUMWA — A total of 140 Washington County 4-H and Clover kid members, parents, volunteers and Extension staff took a day to celebrate the end of summer and the county fair with a day trip to the Beach Ottumwa water park on Monday. The outting was a reward for 4-H’ers who sold the goal of five Big Lucky Clover Raffle tickets this spring. Other 4-H’ers and family were invited to join the fun.
“We wanted to treat our members with something special, and knew that some of the best 4-H memories are not about awards or gifts but are made with time spent together,” said Amy Green, Washington County 4-H and Youth Coordinator. “Our raffle committee was excited to brainstorm day trip options for us all to spend time together. The day went perfectly for our trip and we are already excited about what could be next year!”
4-H members are now busy finalizing projects for the Iowa State Fair and completing their 2021-2022 4-H record books before the new 4-H year, which starts Sept. 15.
