To the editor:
I read with interest the letter to the editor in the Sept. 10th edition of The Fairfield Ledger, written by Charlie Danaher of Boulder, Colorado, and a 1985 graduate of MIU, entitled ?Cherish the lives of the unborn.?
He states that the ?flawed and evil premise? (abortion) leads to the tempting idea that if we?re going to kill them anyway, we might as well sell their body parts. He is referring to the undercover videos taken at Planned Parenthood, showing them discussing how they can acquire better ?specimens? by performing the abortions in certain ways, thereby ?harvesting? better livers, brains, lungs, etc. Totally stomach churning!
I agree with Charlie Danaher ? ?We can turn away from such insanity.? And we must.
Wednesday, Sept. 23rd, begins 40 Days for Life ? a 40 day period of prayer, fasting, and community outreach to end abortion. Fortunately, Jefferson County does not have a Planned Parenthood, but we do know that abortion has affected all of us ? so on Wednesday white crosses will be placed on the lawn of Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1601 S. Main St. in Fairfield, to commemorate the lives lost to abortion. This will take place at 5:30 p.m. After the crosses are put up, a short program will be given by local pregnancy centers telling of the free services they offer.
If you have had an abortion, helped to procure one, or have never had anything to do with an abortion, come join us in a show of solidarity. Nothing can undo the abortions that have been performed, but we can see to it that this ?insanity? comes to an end. We condemn no one ? we only pray that women realize that they do have a choice ? and that choice is so much better than ending the life of their unborn child.
And as Charlie Danaher so eloquently said, ?And we can renew our outlook and begin to cherish the lives of the unborn. It is possible.?
