Absentee ballots available for Washington, Brighton special elections

WASHINGTON — Absentee ballots for the Aug. 6, 2024 Brighton and Washington Special City Elections are available as of July 17 in the Washington County Auditor’s Office.
Voters may cast a ballot in person during normal business hours until 4:30 p.m. on Monday, August 5. Auditor’s Office hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays, and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, July 22 and Friday, August 2.
Alternatively, a ballot can be mailed to a voter if they fill out and submit a request form. The ballot request form may be obtained from the Washington County Auditor’s Office or the following websites: washingtoncounty.iowa.gov or sos.iowa.gov. If requesting a ballot by mail, the signed request may be delivered or mailed to the Washington County Auditor, Box 889, Washington, IA 52353, and must be received in the Auditor’s Office no later than 5 p.m. on Monday, July 22.
The polling places for the Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2024 special cities election are as follows: the Washington Community Y, 520 W. Fifth St., Washington for Washington City Wards 1 and 2, the Washington County Fairgrounds, 611 S HWY 1, Washington for Washington City Wards 3 and 4, and the Brighton Community Bldg., 100 E. Washington St., Brighton for Brighton City residents. The polls for said elections will be open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m.
