Access Energy announces upcoming poster contest

Access Energy cooperative is announcing its 2013 Access Energy poster contest. This contest is open to all students in first through sixth grades in southeast Iowa schools, and it is free to participate.

The purpose of this program is to increase students? knowledge of energy efficiency and renewable energy.

The deadline for posters to be submitted is Feb. 15. Two winning posters from each grade level will be selected. Winners will be awarded a $50 savings bond and a certificate. The winning posters will also be sent to the Iowa Energy poster contest. Winning posters will also be featured on the Access Energy website, in the newsletter and at their annual meeting.

The posters should be focused on either energy conservation/efficiency or on renewable sources of energy such as wind, biomass or solar.

Each student may only enter one poster, and must create his or her own poster. Posters may be created in any medium and must be between 11?? by 17?? and 18?? by 24?? (no matting) to be eligible for judging.

Students eligible to compete must be from Jefferson, Keokuk, Van Buren, Wapello, Washington, Henry, Lee, Louise or Des Moines county.

All entries must be submitted unfolded and have a label on the back lower right corner of the poster. On the label should be printed the students full name, mailing address, grade level, school name, treacher?s name, principal?s name, school telephone and school address.
