A two-vehicle collision resulting in one injury occurred on Highway 218 Wednesday afternoon. David Richardson, 43, of Crawfordsville, was transported by ambulance to the University of Iowa Hospitals for a non-life threatening injury he sustained in the collision.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, the collision occurred at approximately 3:20 p.m. when a semi driven by Caleb Caldwell, 24, of Bowling Green, Mo., was traveling southbound on Highway 218 near mile marker 59 rear-ended Richardson?s vehicle, which was a 740 John Deere Tractor hauling a wagon. Richardson?s tractor turned over on its side and Caldwell?s semi went into the west ditch. Corn from the wagon was spilled all over the road, and was also scooped out of the semi?s cab.
The tractor?s windshield was completely shattered and the semi sustained damages to the cab. One of the tires on the wagon was destroyed and the tongue that attaches it to the tractor was broken off.
