FAIRFIELD – Addington Place of Fairfield is honoring National Assisted Living Week all week, and the facility kicked off the celebration with Grandparents’ Day Fun on Sunday, Sept. 8.
The event featured a brunch open to the public, plus activities for kids that included bounce houses courtesy of Jeff Alexander at Jefferson County Realty, a ring toss, inflatable pool, bags, matching ducks and music.
Addington Place Senior Lifestyle Counselor Josie Heilmann said she was pleased with the event’s attendance.
“People from the Fairfield community brought their children, and we want to make these events very family friendly,” she said.
Residents at Addington Place have more fun in their future as the business celebrates National Assisted Living Week. Heilmann said residents and staff will observe dress-up days. On Tuesday, residents of Addington Place will host a lunch with residents of The Oaks Assisted Living from across town. Heilmann said she’s looking forward to that event, since residents of the two locations don’t often get together for joint events like this.
On Thursday, Addington Place is hosting a Business After Hours event from 4-6 p.m. through the Fairfield Area Chamber of Commerce. That same day from 5:30-8:30 p.m., the facility will host a painting workshop called Paint Your Pet.
The week will conclude with an employee appreciation barbecue on Friday, Sept. 13.
The theme of this year’s National Assisted Living Week is “inspired generations.”
“We hope that our residents inspire the next generation of people in our community,” Heilmann said.
