WASHINGTON — Joining the staff at the beginning of the year, Washington County Hospital and Clinics welcomed Nicole Alsaker, ARNP (Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner) as a pulmonology provider.
“We are excited to welcome Nicole to our specialty care team,” said Todd Patterson, CEO of Washington County Hospital and Clinics. “Her experience and dedication to patient-centered care will help strengthen our pulmonology services and increase access for patients in our region.”
Alsaker’s education includes a Master of Science in Nursing, Nursing Education (Mount Mercy University, Cedar Rapids, Iowa) and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Minnesota State University, Mankato) with a minor in Family Consumer Science (Nutrition).
As a pulmonology provider, Alsaker provides patient oriented care in pulmonology and sleep medicine along with supporting patients from initial evaluation through long-term management.
One would seek a pulmonology provider if they are inflicted with symptoms such as chronic shortness of breath, a persistent cough lasting weeks, chest pain, wheezing, or coughing up blood.
Alsaker holds years of clinical experience in pulmonology and sleep medicine under her belt with the job she held before being a Pulmonology and Sleep Nurse Practitioner at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City and University of Iowa Downtown Campus.
At the U of I, Alsaker assisted patients through comprehensive evaluation, treatment planning, and long-term care management. Working with patients is a strong suit for Alsaker who was recognized at U of I Health Care with a ranking in the top 10% nationally for patient experience scores.
Alsaker, a board-certified Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, joined Dr. Andrew Ashby, who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of lung conditions and diseases.
Starting on Jan. 30, Alsaker began seeing patients in the Ken and Rosemary Hanson Specialty Clinic.
