AINSWORTH — An Alliant Energy representative said a blown fuse was to blame for an outage in the Ainsworth area which left about 960 customers without power the night of April 29 and early morning of April 30.
The spokesperson said lights went out around 11:15 that Monday night, until power was restored for all customers by roughly 2:15 the following morning.
Some community members nearby, in Wayland and parts of Washington, were only affected for a few minutes or seconds by the disruption.
“In some cases when there is an outage, our team is able to redirect service and switch customers over to another energy source while we make repairs,” said Alliant Communications Specialist Tony Palese. “It’s possible that some customers may have experienced a momentary disruption or flicker associated with switching.”
The Southeast Iowa Union’s AnnaMarie Ward also contributed to this report.
