Allender completes small business study curriculum

WASHINGTON - Des Moines Area Community College, along with Iowa's 14 other community colleges, announced the completion of the fourth Iowa class of Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses. Leslie Allender of RePurpose It in Washington, was among the scholars completing the class.
The 26 scholars from across the state represent a diverse range of business and industry. They participated in a 100-hour curriculum, delivered for the first time in a fully virtual format. Class content included a range of topics, including growth, operations, financial statements, and marketing and selling. Each business owner used his own company as a case study to ensure the unique needs of their company were addressed.
'DMACC and all of the Iowa Community Colleges are proud to partner with Goldman Sachs to positively impact and encourage growth for small businesses throughout the state of Iowa,” said DMACC President Rob Denson. Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses has over 10,000 graduates from all fifty states, including Iowa, Sixth-seven percent of alumni report increased revenues six months after graduating, 47 percent report hiring employees during the same time period, and nearly 88 percent of graduates do business with one another.
RePurpose It has been in business for more than six years.
