Alliant Energy installing new regulating station

The construction seen near the Pilot Flying J, 1300 N. Grand Ave., is not due to a new incoming business or building. Instead, Alliant Energy is installing a new regulating station in Mt. Pleasant.

Mike Wagner, spokesperson for Alliant Energy, said the construction Mt. Pleasant residents are likely seeing is where a road is being built to the new regulating station location.

The new station will be small, only 75-by-100 feet, but it's being built in a new area to accommodate for more upgraded equipment, he said.

The work started recently, Wagner said, and will be completed in about two months.

There shouldn't be any interruptions to any resident's gas, he said, since construction is happening during the summer months when people are using air conditioners instead of heating their home. However, he said if anyinterruptions occur Alliant Energy customers will be notified.
