DES MOINES (AP) ? A lawsuit against the city of Altoona, police officials and a video expert filed by a man acquitted of a 2005 murder has been settled.
Justin Pollard filed the lawsuit in 2011 in federal court in Des Moines. Pollard alleged malicious prosecution, false imprisonment, negligence, and violations of his constitutional rights.
He was twice charged by Altoona police with murder for allegedly striking 46-year-old Annamarie Rittman, of Altoona, with his pickup in an Altoona parking lot. Charges filed in March 2006 were later dropped. A charge filed November 2009 went to trial. He was acquitted Oct. 1, 2010.
Court documents filed Friday by the attorney representing the city and other defendants say the case has been settled. It provides no details.
