Ammonia leak closes area near Washington
WASHINGTON - An area north of Washington was shut down temporarily after an ammonia tank leaked.
At 6:16 p.m., the Washington Communications Center received a call reporting an ammonia tank leak and a large amount blowing to the south.
According to the police report, Washington and Ainsworth fire responded to 200th and Riverside street. Law enforcement blocked off a portion of Riverside Road during the leak.
The area remained closed until the ammonia dissipated. Police checked on residents in the area to ensure they were OK, according to the report.
