Amy Alissa VanPelt, 43, of Orlando, Fla., died on July 8, 2016.

Friends may call after 1 p.m., on Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2016, at the Schmitz Funeral Home, in Donnellson, where the family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m., that evening. A private family burial will be held at the Charleston Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her memory to PAWS in Ft. Madison. The Schmitz Funeral Home, of Donnellson, is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.schmitzfuneral homes.com.

VanPelt was born on July 20, 1972, in Ft. Madison. She had her masters degree and served as a captain in the United States Air Force.

She was employed by JLR Anesthesia Group and worked as a certified registered nurse anesthetist at Florida Hospital, in Orlando, Fla.

She was a member of St. James Cathedral, in Orlando.

She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her friends and family.

VanPelt is survived by her mother, Susan Penrod Fields, of Orlando, Fla.; and her grandmother, Norma Heins, of Donnellson.
