WASHINGTON — The U.S. Marshals Service has arrested a man Washington police say fired several gunshots without hitting anyone shortly after a car crash in October, according to a news release from the municipal department.
Police said Kevante Andrews got out of the car after an accident near the intersection of East Madison Street and South Iowa Avenue, where police said he “fired shots in the direction of a second vehicle and left the area on foot.”
A nationwide extradition and arrest warrant went out later that month. On Tuesday, Andrews was arrested in Monterey County, California.
“As a result of the investigation, Andrews was charged with Attempted Murder (Class B felony), Intimidation With A Dangerous Weapon (Class C felony), and Assault While Displaying A Dangerous Weapon (Aggravated Misdemeanor),” The news release said. “(Andrews) is being held in the Monterey County Jail awaiting extradition to Washington County.”
A judge in October signed a warrant to acquire Andrews’ cellphone data from Verizon on the day of the incident, ordering the carrier not to notify him of the procedure.
Court records show a handful of legal troubles for Andrews in the state before October. Most of them include driving violations for expired plates, missing insurance, speeding or driving without a license. In Louisa County, he was also accused of public intoxication, and possession of a dangerous weapon while intoxicated, both in September.
