Avenue of Flags announces schedule for area Veterans Day observance
Henry County?s Veterans Day observance will be on Wednesday, Nov. 11, at 10:30 a.m. The observance, sponsored by the Avenue of the Flags, will be at Veterans Hall, 300 W. Monroe St., Mt. Pleasant. There is parking available on all four sides of the building.
Dean King, Avenue of Flags chairman and honor guard commander, will be the master of ceremonies.

Henry County?s Veterans Day observance will be on Wednesday, Nov. 11, at 10:30 a.m. The observance, sponsored by the Avenue of the Flags, will be at Veterans Hall, 300 W. Monroe St., Mt. Pleasant. There is parking available on all four sides of the building.
Dean King, Avenue of Flags chairman and honor guard commander, will be the master of ceremonies.
All commanders or their representatives of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and AMVETS posts in Henry County are invited to speak for two minutes. Those speaking should make themselves known at the podium before 10:30 a.m.
Under the direction of Andrew Grove, a choral group will sing the National Anthem from Mt. Pleasant Community High School. They will also sing a tribute to fallen service members, entitled ?Mansions of the Lord.?
Rev. Jeff McPheron, pastor of the Wesley Chapel and Trenton United Methodist Churches, will deliver the invocation and benediction.
At approximately 11 a.m., the Henry County Honor Guard will fire three volleys in honor all veterans and ?Taps? will be played.
The Veterans Day observance is a public event and is open to anyone who wishes to attend and offer tribute to veterans.
Twenty names have been added to the Henry County Memorial stones for Veterans Day. The members added and their families, who are in attendance, will be acknowledged during the observance. The 20 new names bring the total of names listed on the memorial to 1,315.

Sprouse Scheer, U.S. Air Force; Paul Alger Mertens, U.S. Army; Glenwood Floyd Tolson, U.S. Army; Phillip L. Klopfenstein, U.S. Navy; William D. Klopfenstein, U.S. Army; James R. Distelhorst, U.S. Army; Wilmer Herbert Butler, U.S. Army; Robert E. Carlson, U.S. Navy; Ralph W. Mabeus, U.S. Army; Dean Crabill, U.S. Navy; John Keith Feikert, U.S. Army; and Ralph Henry Johnson, U.S. Navy.
