BATAVIA ? The Batavia City Council met with the Batavia Public Library board Monday evening to decide the fate of the library committee that sits over the board.
The library committee is a group of council members appointed by the Batavia City Council to oversee the library board and address any concerns the board members may have.
?If [the library board has] any problems, I just want them on the agenda and we?ll come to the city council meetings,? explained library board president Nikki Drish. She said nothing is accomplished by the committee because there?s too much ?back and forth? during the process.
?I really don?t think there needs to be a library committee looking over us because it seems every little breath we take someone is there to jump us,? Drish added.
Councilman Dave Speas agreed any problems with the library board should be addressed at city council meetings.
?You can?t run city business on these cell phones. It?s got to be decided at this table,? said Speas.
